I dont have any changes to status when I check my 485 case status online but today in the mail i received I797c notice welcoming me as a premenant residence. I am a bit hesitant to celebrate, but am I seeing green?:o

It turned out, she actually had two 485 receipt notices..each with a different notice no. I was all the time checking her 485 status using the older receipt number, until, when we got the welcome notice. I called my attorney to seek an explanation and he told me to make sure, I was checking the latest receipt no. Once I checked the correct receipt no., the status had properly updated on the correct receipt no.

I485 along with EAD and AP applications filed during July 02 for me and my family. Got EAD and AP. Used Company�s attorney to file my applications. I live in Michigan and all documents send to TSC. My I-485 is pending with TSC.
Renewed EAD and AP last year, again used the same attorney. That time they filed EAD and AP applications at NSC as per http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-765instr.pdf page 11
I am still on H1B and never used EAD and AP.
I am planning to file EAD and AP renewal now (paper filing), but this time on my own. My questions are:
How can I ensure that all communications from USCIS will be sent to me and not to the attorney? How the earlier G-28 forms we submitted will cease?
Do I need to submit my EAD and AP renewal applications to NSC? In other forums somebody suggested that it need to be filed at the service center where my I485 is pending.
Recently I had been to SSN office to get SSN# for my son (8 years). They refused to give SSN and asked me to get EAD for my son. When I questioned how EAD can be applied for a minor, they responded saying that I can apply EAD for minor and based on that EAD, SSN (not permitted to work) will be given to my son. Anybody got EAD for minors?

After the renewal, I got a passport with a new passport number (the old passport is still there stapled with the new one).
My labor and H1B all have the old #. Is there a need to do anything with the new passport number wrt to my existing H1 and labor and such?

The bill seems to apply to future PhD candidates who will come on an "F4" visa. Will current PhD candidates who will graduate on an F1 visa be similarly able to adjust status after 1 year of employment? If it does not, the potential benefits will be seen only after 4-6 years, which is when new candidates on an F4 visa will be getting their PhDs!
Also, are these clauses applicable to PhDs in the life sciences? The actual language seems to talk about the "physical sciences", which I think excludes the biological sciences/ biotech, one of the areas of greatest advancements in recent and future years!
Interested individuals should contact lawmakers about these points and have them amend it!

Hi All,
Is there a way to get an English translation of my birth ceritificate in the US? I have the original with me and to send it to India and get it done seems like a pretty big deal.

i had the same situation. your friend can apply for H1-B coz he is already counted. He'll loose whatever time that he is used on EAD and get the remaining time that is left on his 6 year period. If 6 years is already passed, he can still file for H1-B based on labor, 140 approval. In my case, my H1-B got denied coz of employer issues and i have an another H1-B with another company. Mean while i have filed AC21 with my new employer to be able to work..Hope this helps..

Hi Guys this is my first post and my problem is kind of weird , I entered in the US in 2001 on B1 visa and immediately converted it F1 while I was on F1 I got a job offer and
I then converted to H1 didn't graduate and now am on EAD/AP (never traveled since I entered the country i.e. almost close 8 yrs ) and never out of status, my question Gurus :
1) Can I travel on AP ? Will I have problems at port of entry ( currently I just have my B1 visa stamp and nothing else).
2) Or do you'll think I'll hold on until I get my 1-485 is approved ?
3) recently we were blessed with a baby who was born in the US , do you'll think that would carry some weight when I talk to an IO?(port of entry)

I don't think this will jeopardize their cash flow. Surely they will charge 3 times more for a 3 year renewal. It will just make life easier for us and them.
And then I will complain about having to spend for a 3 year renewal when I 'expect' to get my GC within a few months.

I am on L1A managerial category currently in USA for my 5th year with company A. I know if company A files my GC I can apply under EB1 category.
But, if a future employer B files my GC can they file it under EB1? Additional info - The future employer is a big MNC and has offices in USA. I am a graduate in engineering with about 10 years of experience. The future employer B is not linked in any way to A.
If B cannot file under EB1 what category can they file my GC in? And when would I be able to start working for B?
