If you are commenting on what you do, then its people like you that make the studios demand limits on legitimate customers like me.
Imagine buying a car but the manufacturer keeping the wheels when you are not using it. Its stops car theft, but its a pain in the ass for the user.

Android OS devices were as a group moving full steam ahead due to VZW not having the iPhone. But, we're already seeing the Android surge slow some as VZW customers that were buying Android devices simply to have the closest thing to an iPhone no longer need to make such a compromise AND Android based tablets are falling well short of expectations...even various Android-favoring blogs are admitting such. I don't think that means Android is in trouble, I just think that Android is not going to crush iOS like some thought 3-9 months ago. What will be interesting are results from VZW for a full quarter with the iPhone and the next two years as existing customers with Android devices are due for upgrades...what will they choose.
Apple clearly has the momentum still and to their benefit they are slowly and strategically working all screens...handheld, tablet, computer, portable gaming, console gaming and living room. iOS apps coming to Macs in just a few months. I think it is widely expected that we will soon be seeing an Apple TV refresh or a "full" Apple engineered TV with iOS app capabilities.
As newbies to Apple, and especially iOS, really hone in on being able to buy an app once and run on all these, or at least more than one, screen, the attractiveness of Android will diminish. Google certainly has the resources to likewise compete...but will they? I think Amazon can too, if they want to. Facebook shouldn't even try...no FB phone, please! Time will tell.

I'm a medical student so I need my money in my pocket funding my studies! :p And in the UK my study is mostly funded by the government so people are paying for the good of society.
But of course, you do realise there's a difference between wanting everyone to get a fair deal and giving money away for free? You will get compensated for your work as a lawyer, you don't need my money. I just want to see that Atebits is compensated for his work as a dev.
My logic is that people should pay a fair amount for what they get, whereas in society today people only care about the monetary cheapness of things regardless of the wider cost. Cheap foods and electricity at the expensive of the environment, cheap clothes at the expensive of child labour etc.
Well you talk about fairness, I don't think its fair that your studies are funded by the government and mine are not, even though I will be working directly for the government in the very near future. And, its not fair to me that you may very well benefit directly from my work in several ways. For example, say you come to America for a holiday, and you are mugged. It would be my job to help get the guy responsible for your mugging and to be able to put you back to your position before you were mugged, at no cost to you because you are not an American citizen and don't pay taxes. So, I feel toat you owe me money because that would be fair. I know i'm making money as an attorney, but so is Loren on the many, many other projects he has going on for him. Its only fair that we are both compensated justly for everything we do, right? Just like you would want to be compensated by me if I came to your country and needed medical help, it would be nothing out of my pocket, and that doesn't seem fair to you personally doing something without just compensation.
My point is, each of us has our own lives to support, because really when it comes down to it, no one else is giving us a free ride...well except for you and thats not really fair. Well then to educate you, in America, no one gets a free ride. We're all for ourselves here, and then we have to pay taxes up the ass for the people on welfare who mooch off of the welfare system without really doing anything. No ones gonna help me with my law school loans even though the work I am doing will benefit many, many people. I will get a small government salary (criminal prosecutors do not make a lot of money at all, thats why so many attorneys try to go to private practices and big law firms, to make that 6 or 7 figure income). Does that seem fair? No.
Loren is gonna be ok, whether he had charged for Tweetie 2 or not. He has many other things going on, many other products, and he gets paid for those lectures he does. The guys who created youtube didn't charge people to access the videos hosted on their site for free, or charge people each time they updated their servers and software, yet they are rolling in the dough. In America, we thrive on customer satisfaction. I personally do not feel Loren did enough with Tweetie 1 in satisfying his customers before going ahead and charging full price for an "update." And his excuse that Apple didn't provide an upgrade path is a cop out. I read his tweet on the decision; he did it because he "had the balls to do it." He should at least go back to Tweetie 1 and upgrade that as much as possible until he can't anymore. He stated that he wanted to do things to Tweetie that were impossible to do without rewriting the app from scratch. Thats fine, but you can't leave your old customers out in the cold like he did. People paid for Tweetie 1 without knowing that Loren would be pulling this stunt off. Thats not fair to them, they deserve to be satisfied, they paid a fair amount and got ditched, bamboozled, baited and switched. If he wants to justify charging again, then he needs to go back to Tweetie 1 and fix it up as much as possible to satisfy everyone. THAT would be fair. I really hope he sees this too. If the buyer is reading this forum, if you make a claim through eBay saying that the item isn't what you thought you were purchasing, and then the buyer claims that it is because in the description he said it was a photo, you can actually one-up him. In the title he claims it's a VERIZON iPhone, but that picture is clearly AT&T!!!!
Whoever won (unfortunately) this auction, if eBay gives you a hard time about getting your money back and you have no options left try saying that you got the wrong item because you wanted a picture of a Verizon iPhone!

I think Apple's policy allows for users to opt-in to sharing their personal data.
And that's the point FT has a problem with.
They want that data so they can sell it to marketers and artificially inflate their profits.
Also this made me laugh:
The report notes that the Financial Times has already developed a relatively successful paywall model for its online content, with the newspaper bringing in about 40% of its revenue through digital sales.
They're bringing in 40% of their revenue through digital sales because people already abandoned their paper distribution in droves, just like every other publication. People just go to Google News and get access to thousands of different articles on the same topic that are all free.
FT needs that user data to sell to advertisers because without it they hemorrhage money due to their poor business model.

As expected, FedEx delivered my shuffle this morning. I set mine up and noticed Apple already had a firmware update for it. Anyway, I loaded it with music and have been playing with it off and on for the past couple hours. Pretty cool little unit. I wish the spring on the clip was stronger so it would clip/bite harder, but it's not bad. I'll take it to the gym this afternoon and see how well it works.
The pictures don't do it justice. The thing is really smaller than you think it is, even looking at the pictures. So far I'm rather pleased.

Yes... although I don't have any children. It was exactly what I was allowed to do at 18 with the proviso that I took precautions. 18 is/was way past the age of legal consent at the time...
If you know that they're already having sex then encouraging them to be responsible and open is a far better way to go than by curtailing it and forcing them to sneak around behind your back.

for some reason I can't figure out how to have all documents of a certain type use the same icon, like all keynote files generated will use (insert icon.)
